- Senior soldier Volodymyr Kovalenko (call sign Vovan) was killed in action on July 19, 2022, while performing a combat mission in the area of the village of Berestove in Donetsk region. In August, the warrior would have turned 37 years old. Volodymyr was born in the city of Rozhysche, Volyn Oblast. For over 12 years, he worked at the company Volyn Holding, holding the position of an apparatus operator for preparing sauces of the 6th rank. In 2019, he quit and began traveling to Poland for work. He was married and was building a house with his wife. He had many plans for life. During the full-scale Russian invasion, Volodymyr voluntarily went to the military commissariat and later joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 14th separate mechanized brigade named after Prince Roman the Great. He held the position of a service number. "He was the eldest son in the family. Volodymyr was a very good and kind person. He never held grudges against people. He was cheerful, found common language in any company, and was the center of attention. It was never boring with him, and he could easily dispel any gloom. He had many friends and was fond of household chores," said the wife of the deceased. The defender was buried on the Alley of Glory in his hometown. Volodymyr is survived by his mother Valentina, father Oleksandr, wife Anna, and brothers Serhii and Oleksandr. Posthumously, the warrior was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
