- Soldier Volodymyr Shevchuk (call sign Starter) was killed on April 24, 2023, in a firefight during the repulsion of an enemy assault near the village of Hryhorivka in the Donetsk region. The defender was 54 years old. Volodymyr was born in the village of Adamivka, Mykolaiv region. He worked as a firefighter driver. He enjoyed fishing, playing the guitar. He loved sports, especially football. He was interested in aviation. He had a large loving family and was already playing with his grandchildren, hoping for a peaceful life. However, the invaders destroyed these dreams. During the full-scale Russian invasion, the man joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to protect his native lands and his loved ones from the occupiers. He served in the 56th Separate Motorized Infantry Mariupol Brigade. He was a grenadier. "Father went to war voluntarily, fought in the hottest spots of the Donetsk and Zaporizhia regions. He was wounded, and after healing, he rushed back into battle. Although he could have stayed home and played with his little grandchildren, whom he loved endlessly. Father never complained about anything, was always smiling, and looked for the positive in everything. He never refused to help others, was a fair and honest person. The news of his death shook the entire district, everyone knew him, loved and respected him. With my mother, they lived in harmony for 31 years. Father built a house, planted a garden, raised children, and when the threat came, he stood up to defend Ukraine. He remained true to himself, his wife, and his native Ukraine until the end. He was killed with honor and dignity in a firefight, repelling the assault of the occupiers. He stood until the end, not leaving his position. Eternal memory to you, father, friend," said the deceased's son Oleksandr. The warrior was buried in his native village. At home, Volodymyr was awaited by his wife, three children, and three grandchildren.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
