Volodymyr Gerasym, a fighter of the Kyiv Territorial Defense, was killed in action on July 12, 2022, near the village of Bohorodychne in Donetsk Oblast. Volodymyr was born in Kyiv Oblast. From childhood, he was engaged in sports. He graduated from the Mechanico-Mathematical Institute of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, studying at the Department of Aircraft Production Technology. He did not have a permanent job, was fond of sports, blogging, and photography. He loved reading books and, despite his technical education, dreamed of being a historian. He adored every corner of his native land, so he traveled a lot and explored various historical landmarks. He was engaged in educational activities: he was the head of the organization "Ukrainian Fists," created a group in the social network "Educational Kryivka." He was a reliable friend. "He is that guy from Yahotyn who simply intuitively promoted the boxing public to a million subscribers, he took incredible photos. Beautiful, strong, and very hardworking. This is the category that takes on the most beautiful work in a dark time and does not expect benefits. The last thing he wrote to me, we who survive this war must implement," said Volodymyr's friend Daria Hirna. With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Volodymyr joined the ranks of the Territorial Defense, later - went to war in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. "Here everyone knows what they are going for and what consequences may be. No one wants their children to take up arms. The war must end with us. We must win and return home to restore order," Volodymyr said. "He was always brave, lived by the motto 'The brave have luck.' Volodymyr Serhiyovych Gerasym is a person who will remain in the hearts of many conscious Ukrainians. Forever young and smiling, brave and strong, free and dreamy, a true example of courage and bravery. Heroes do not die, they burn like a candle in the hearts of millions. Such was Vova," said his close friend Kateryna Shevchenko. The warrior was buried in Yahotyn, Kyiv Oblast. Volodymyr's mother remains.
