Volodymyr S. Hurov (Hurik)

Soldier Volodymyr Huriv (call sign Hurik) was killed on October 27, 2022, during the evacuation of wounded and fallen comrades near the village of Bakhmutske in the Donetsk region. Exactly one month before his death, the defender turned 25 years old. Volodymyr was born and lived in Lysychansk, Luhansk region. He stuwas killed at school No. 8. He obtained a profession as an electric locomotive driver at a local vocational school. He worked in the security police, from where he was called up for mandatory service in the National Guard of Ukraine. Since 2019, he served under contract at the Lysychansk military recruitment office. He started a family and raised his firstborn. He was passionate about cars and spent almost all his free time in the garage. He had a black cat that he loved immensely. During the full-scale invasion, Volodymyr joined the ranks of the 93rd separate mechanized brigade "Kholodny Yar." He served as a driver. Together with his comrades, he held back the enemy's advance in hot areas of the front. "My beloved, an incredible person with a big heart. The best husband and father. Kind and cheerful, he always wanted to help everyone. He gave his life for us, saying: 'Who will protect you if not me?'. He is now our angel. Forever in our hearts..." said his wife, Yulia. The defender was buried at the Krasnopil Cemetery in Dnipropetrovsk region. Volodymyr is survived by his parents, wife, and 2-year-old son.
