Volodymyr S. Polokhalo

Born on June 17, 1985, in the city of Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region. In 2002, he graduated from secondary school No. 19 in Kryvyi Rih. On August 14, 2015, he was mobilized as a volunteer into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He underwent military training at the 169th Training Center of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A0665, the urban-type settlement of Desna, Kozelets district, Chernihiv region). He served as a radio operator in the reconnaissance observation section of the reconnaissance platoon of the 54th Separate Guards Reconnaissance Battalion of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A2076 (field post V2803), the city of Novograd-Volynskyi, Zhytomyr region). He participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On July 23, 2016, around 5:30 AM, Senior Soldier Polokhalo was killed during an artillery shelling near the village of Hnutove, Kalmius district council of the city of Mariupol, Donetsk region, when a shell hit his dugout. Along with him, Senior Soldier Kostyantyn Bessarab, Soldier Vyacheslav Kovalov, and Senior Soldier Vitaliy Chuntul were killed. On July 26, 2016, he was buried in the cemetery of Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region.
