Volodymyr U. Batovskyi

Soldier Volodymyr Batovsky was killed on June 21, 2023 in battle with the enemy in the Bakhmut direction of Donetsk region. Exactly a month later, the defender would have turned 26 years old. Volodymyr was born in the village of Biloziria, Ternopil region. After finishing the 9th grade of the local school, he entered the Kamianets-Podilskyi Lyceum with enhanced military and physical training. After completing his studies, he served in the military in Khmilnytskyi. Later, he decided to sign a 3-year contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend his native Ukraine. He participated in the ATO/JFO. He was wounded several times. At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, on March 8, 2022, Volodymyr went to defend Ukraine again. He served in the 115th Separate Mechanized Brigade. He was a squad commander. He fought for Sievierodonetsk in Luhansk region, then defended Donetsk region. In September 2022, he was wounded and concussed. After treatment, he managed to visit home for a few days, and then returned to the front line with his comrades-in-arms. "Volodya was a responsible and honest person, a good friend. He loved children very much, helped raise his sister's two children and adored them. I have great respect for him," said the godmother of the fallen Natalia Kireeva. Volodymyr was buried in his native village. At home, he was awaited by his parents, two sisters, nephews, relatives and friends. The warrior was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
