Biography
Volodymyr Vasylovych Karas was born on June 28, 1982, in Kyiv. He studied at school No. 284 in the Darnytskyi district. There, he also attended a modeling club and had been fascinated by construction since childhood. After the 7th grade, Volodymyr entered the Darnytskyi Lyceum, and after graduating, he enrolled in KPI, in the Faculty of Engineering. Volodymyr, along with his brother, actively participated in revolutionary movements. Until 2013, Volodymyr Karas was not an active participant in the radical movement, but he supported the national initiative and occasionally joined actions. In 2013, Volodymyr was attacked in the entrance of his building, as a result of which he sustained multiple injuries. The attackers mistook Volodymyr for his younger brother. After these events, Volodymyr Karas radically changed his position and did not miss any actions. Later that same year, Volodymyr and his brother joined the Euromaidan. He himself was not an active participant, as he had just undergone rehabilitation. Nevertheless, he helped by bringing food and other necessities. After the Revolution of Dignity, Volodymyr went as a volunteer to Eastern Ukraine. There, for about a year, he delivered letters and packages for the ATO fighters in his car, serving as a field postman. On February 24, 2022, Volodymyr Karas joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of a shooter in the security division of the 142nd Training Center of the Special Operations Forces. He was killed on March 3, 2022, in the area of the village of Motyzhyn in the Kyiv region during reconnaissance of an electronic warfare complex. Farewells to the hero were held at Independence Square. Volodymyr Karas was buried at the Forest Cemetery. For personal courage and selfless actions demonstrated in the defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and for his loyalty to the military oath, Volodymyr Vasylovych Karas was posthumously awarded the Order of "For Courage" of the III degree.Burial place
