- 23-year-old soldier Volodymyr Protsyk (call sign Antelope) died on December 21, 2023 near the village of Verbove in the Zaporizhzhia region. During the performance of a combat mission, he was fatally wounded as a result of the impact of an enemy FPV drone. Volodymyr was born in the city of Starokostiantyniv, Khmilnytskyi region. He studied at the Starokostiantyniv Vocational Lyceum, where he obtained the qualification of an electric welder. Then he worked at the Starokostiantyniv plant of reinforced concrete sleepers, from where he went to serve in the National Guard of Ukraine in Odesa. After demobilization, he returned to his workplace, improved his skills, took courses, and upgraded his qualifications. He was always a support for his family. During the full-scale war, the man returned to the ranks of the National Guard of Ukraine and went to the front. He fought as part of the 5th battalion of the 14th assault brigade "Chervona Kalyna". "Vovchyk was a very kind and honest person. He was always a great support for us, especially for mom, he was a real master at home. His nieces and nephews adored him, and he became a godfather to two of them. Always smiling, modest, and brave. On the second day after the start of the great war, he was already in the military unit. Although he had the opportunity to be released from service, he did not do so. After the victory, he dreamed of getting a driver's license, buying a car, and traveling... Unfortunately, these dreams went with him into eternity. In the unspeakable pain of loss, we will never cease to be proud of him. He was the true flower of the nation!" - said the warrior's sister Anna. Volodymyr was buried in the Alley of Glory of the cemetery in his hometown. The defender left behind his parents, four sisters, and nephews. The National Guardsman was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
