- Soldier Volodymyr Shvets (call sign Poet) was killed on May 28, 2023 near the city of Kreminna in the Luhansk region. While carrying out a combat mission, he received fatal injuries during an artillery bombardment. In April, the defender turned 30 years old. Volodymyr was born in the village of Khoroshiv, Zhytomyr region. He obtained the profession of gas-electric welder and driver at the Turchynivskyi vocational school. For some time he worked as a grinder at a stone processing enterprise. He served his conscription, and then signed a contract with one of the units in the Zhytomyr region. In October 2021, he signed the next contract with the 95th separate airborne assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and from November carried out combat missions in Donbas. Volodymyr received his call sign because he loved poetry and wrote poems himself. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, together with his comrades-in-arms, he defended Ukraine at the forefront. He was a driver in an artillery division. He took part in battles in Donetsk, Kharkiv and Luhansk regions. In June 2022, the fighter was awarded the medal "For Military Service to Ukraine". In March 2024, his relatives received the Order of Courage of the III degree, with which Volodymyr was posthumously awarded. "He was a kind, attentive guy who would always come to help. According to his comrades-in-arms, Volodya never lagged behind, always showed initiative and was among the volunteers ready to go on assault actions. He was a courageous warrior, a brave and determined soldier with a sense of humor. He was a true patriot who honorably fulfilled his duty to protect the state and remained faithful to the oath to the Ukrainian people and Ukraine until his last breath. He dreamed of Victory and did everything in his power to bring it closer!" - wrote the wife of the fallen Olesya. Volodymyr was buried in the village of Kamianyi Brid in the Zhytomyr region, where his childhood passed. He left behind a wife and a son from his first marriage.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
