Volodymyr V. Trush (Sirius)

Sergeant Volodymyr Trush (call sign Sirius) died on October 30, 2023 near the village of Bohdanivka in the Donetsk region. While performing his duties, he sustained fatal mine and explosive injuries during enemy shelling. The following month, on November 20, he would have turned 43 years old. Volodymyr was born in Almaty, Kazakhstan. From childhood, he lived in Hadiach, Poltava region, where he studied at school. He then graduated from Hadiach Vocational School No. 47, where he obtained the profession of a cook. Later, he acquired another specialty and worked as a firefighter rescuer for 20 years. He loved sports and was interested in healthy eating. In April 2022, he was drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 120th Separate Reconnaissance Battalion, holding the position of gunner-operator. In February 2023, Volodymyr was seriously wounded in battle, but he managed to save his comrade-in-arms in addition to himself. For this, he was awarded the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine's "Golden Cross" distinction. After rehabilitation, the soldier returned to the front line. "I am very proud of my husband, as he is a true Hero. He never hid behind others, nor abandoned his friends in trouble. He was kind, fair, and strong in spirit. He loved his family very much and cared for us. We miss him very much, his support, advice, and kind words..." said Lilia Trush. The warrior was buried in Hadiach, Poltava region. At home, he was awaited by his mother, wife, and son.
