Volodymyr Ya. Motsnyi

42-year-old serviceman Volodymyr Motsny was killed on December 14, 2022 while performing a combat mission in the Donetsk region. Near the settlement of Spirne, the defender came under enemy artillery fire. Volodymyr was born in the village of Ozeriany, Ivano-Frankivsk region. He graduated from the local school. He worked at the Burshtyn Thermal Power Plant. In 2015, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine and participated in the ATO in Donbas. After 1.5 years, he returned to civilian life. He loved dogs. He had a good heart and always helped people. On the second day of the full-scale Russian invasion, on February 25, 2022, Volodymyr was called up to the Armed Forces for the second time. He served in the ranks of the 10th separate mountain assault brigade. Together with his comrades-in-arms, he defended Ukraine from the occupiers on various fronts. "My brother was a very kind and sensitive person, he always helped everyone, he was not afraid of difficulties, he never complained and bravely fought for all of us and for Ukraine," said the sister of the deceased Halyna Kaidan. "The hero was faithful to the military oath and Ukraine, he was a participant in hostilities since 2015. We express our sincere condolences to the relatives, friends and acquaintances of the fallen hero. He will forever remain in our memory as a true patriot and defender," said the Burshtyn City Council. The serviceman was buried in his native village. Volodymyr had sisters. He lost his father in childhood, and his mother was killed three years before his death.
