Volodymyr Ya. Sapiha (Malyi)

Senior soldier Volodymyr Sapiga (call sign Malyi) was killedon February 23, 2023 during an enemy tank shelling near the village of Bilohorivka in the Donetsk region. The fighter was 49 years old. Volodymyr was born in the village of Chorny Ostriv, Lviv region. He lived in Mykolaiv, Lviv region. He studied at school No. 1 there. He worked as a builder and loved his job very much. His special passion was laying paving stones. During the full-scale Russian invasion, despite his health condition, the man decided that he had to defend his country. He joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine to drive out the occupiers and live in a free Ukraine. He held the position of senior rifleman in the 10th separate mountain assault brigade. He responsibly and conscientiously performed his duties. He dreamed of returning to his family. But it was not to be. "He was the best father and professional in his field. He was a man with a heart. All his comrades-in-arms say he was the best. He voluntarily went to defend, so that we could live peacefully here. On the day of his death, he was saving a comrade to the last, despite his own wounds, he still dragged him, but he himself died... It's a pity that we are losing the best!" - said the deceased's daughter Iryna. The defender was buried in Mykolaiv, Lviv region. Volodymyr left behind a wife and two daughters.
