Volodymyr Ye. Kovbasiuk (Barik)

Soldier Volodymyr Kovbasiuk (call sign Barik) was killed on April 5, 2023 in battle for the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. During enemy shelling, he sustained fatal shrapnel wounds. The warrior would have turned 33 years old on January 11. Volodymyr was born in the village of Vesnianka, Kyiv region. He lived in the city of Boyarka. He graduated from the vocational school of the National Aviation University, where he obtained the qualification of computer operator and accounting data accountant. In civilian life, he was engaged in the repair of electrical tools. During the full-scale invasion, the man took up the defense of his country from the Russian occupiers, joining the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 3rd separate assault brigade, holding the position of a rifleman-medic. "In defending and protecting the right to our safe life, he gave his own, not regretting it. He sacrificed himself for the sake of victory in the struggle not only for our freedom, but also for the freedom of all of Europe and all the people of the free world," wrote the sister of the fallen Daryna Pashchenko. Volodymyr was buried in the village of Horodyshche, Kyiv region. He is survived by his parents, sister and son. The warrior was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage, 3rd degree.
