- Scout Vladimir Kostiuk was killed in action on March 20, 2022, in the area of the village of Selets, Zhytomyr region, on the border with Belarus. He sustained fatal injuries during the execution of a combat mission as a result of enemy rocket fire. In April, the warrior would have turned 28. Vladimir was born in the village of Zamiske, Kharkiv region. After finishing school, he decided to link his life with military service. He served under contract in the ranks of the airborne assault troops in Zhytomyr. He completed three rotations in the ATO/OOS zone and held the position of a shooter. In 2021, he expressed a desire to train as a scout. When the full-scale war began, Vladimir was serving in the 132nd Separate Reconnaissance Battalion of the Airborne Assault Troops. He was the commander of a reconnaissance group. He carried out combat missions in Donetsk, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, and also in Chernobyl. "Vladimir was a loving son, the best brother, and friend. He was a man of great character, with a kind heart and soul. He had all the qualities of a true man. According to his comrades-in-arms, it was an honor for them to stand shoulder to shoulder with Vladimir. He was a brave and fearless warrior, saving more than one life," said the scout's sister, Lyudmila Chernyak. The warrior was buried in his native village.Vladimir is survived by his parents, two sisters, and a brother. His youngest brother, Oleksiy, also in the Russian-Ukrainian war on January 2, 2023.
