Volodymyr Z. Bachynskyi

30-year-old senior sergeant Volodymyr Bachynskyi was killed on October 5, 2022 near the village of Piatykhatky in the Kherson region. While carrying out a combat mission, he was traveling with three comrades-in-arms in an armored vehicle at the front of the column. Their vehicle was the first to take the enemy's strike. During the shelling, Volodymyr tried to save the crew by loading ammunition into the combat vehicle, but he sustained fatal injuries. Three of his comrades also was killed. Volodymyr was born in Bibrka, Lviv region. He studied at a school there and later obtained a welding qualification at a vocational school. Since 2015, he had participated in the ATO in Donbas. On the third day of the full-scale war, on February 26, 2022, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 80th separate air assault brigade and carried out combat missions in various hot spots until he ended up in the Kherson region, where he fought his last battle. Volodymyr's sister Iryna said he was a very sincere and kind person who had been left without a mother and with a sick father since childhood. He always helped everyone and volunteered to defend his nephew at the start of the full-scale invasion. Despite injuries and health issues, he did not hesitate to defend his homeland again. Volodymyr was buried in his hometown next to his mother's grave. He is survived by his father, sister, and nephew. He was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
