- 53-year-old senior soldier Yaroslav Sereda was killed on September 11, 2022, near the village of Shchaslyve in the Kherson region. While carrying out a combat mission, the fighter came under enemy tank and artillery fire. Yaroslav was born in the village of Prilbychi in the Lviv region. He graduated from the local school and then obtained vocational education at the Novoyavorivsk Vocational School. He completed his mandatory military service and worked as a builder. He lived with his family in the village of Cholhyn. During the full-scale war, he took up the defense of Ukraine in the ranks of the Armed Forces. He fought as part of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Daniel and held the position of squad commander. "Dad was a very good and kind person. He always helped everyone. He was a patriot of his country. Always smiling and sincere. A man with a capital letter. Dad was in the hottest spots of the Luhansk, Donetsk, and Kherson regions. He was wounded, and after recovering, he returned to his brigade, where he defended the borders of our state side by side with his comrades," said his eldest son Andriy. "During his life, dad was a very good, sincere, and hardworking person. A man with a capital letter. He always helped everyone. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, he volunteered to defend our state from the invaders. He participated in the fiercest battles in the Luhansk, Donetsk, and Kherson regions," said the deceased's daughter-in-law, Anastasia. "Eternal and bright memory to you, classmate! Heavenly Kingdom! You were a true Man-Hero even in peaceful times! In our memory and prayers, you will always be a Hero of Ukraine. Deepest and sincere condolences to the family and loved ones!" wrote Lyubov Dyda.
