Yaroslav O. Savliv (Siava)

Reconnaissance officer Yaroslav Savliv (call sign Syava) was killed on August 26, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission in the area of the village of Verbove, Zaporizhia region. On July 1, the warrior turned 28 years old. Yaroslav was born in Kyiv, but spent his childhood in the village of Novi Vorobi, Zhytomyr region. There he finished school. Then - a vocational school. He met his love and after marriage returned to his native Kyiv. He loved football very much, played in the Kyiv club "Patriot". He worked as an instructor-animator in the entertainment children's park "Happy Kids". During the full-scale war, the man defended his Motherland in the ranks of the airborne assault troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a fighter of the 132nd separate reconnaissance battalion. He held the position of commander of the reconnaissance unit. In 2022, Junior Sergeant Yaroslav Savliv was awarded the decoration of the President of Ukraine "For the Defense of Ukraine", and in 2023 posthumously - the Order of Courage of the III degree. "He was a beloved husband, a good friend, a brother. A true patriot of Ukraine, he was never afraid, always went forward. He said that if he was killed, it would only be in battle. And so it happened..." - said the wife of the fallen fighter Kateryna. The defender was buried on the Alley of Heroes of the Forest Cemetery in the capital. Yaroslav left behind a mother, brothers, sisters and a pregnant wife.
