- Volunteer Yaroslav Sulima was killed on March 18, 2022 during the defense of the Kyiv region from the occupiers. In the village of Makariv, he came under enemy mortar fire. The man was 44 years old. Yaroslav was born in the village of Zalisci, Ternopil region. He graduated from the Ternopil Educational and Training Combine. He worked as a builder. He played musical instruments. In the last 5 years he lived with his family in the village of Makariv in the Kyiv region. From the first days of the full-scale Russian invasion, Yaroslav, together with local volunteers, took up the defense of Makariv. His wife tried to dissuade him, reminding him of his health, but the man replied: "I won't be able to sit at home. Are you suggesting that women and young men should go to war?" Together with other villagers, he went to the military enlistment office. They were issued uniforms and weapons and sent to the guard company - they had to take turns near the local military enlistment office. But the man was never officially enrolled in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. "I often think about what I would like to say to Yaroslav if I saw him... A lot of things. And I so want to go fishing with him. This was another of his hobbies, in addition to playing musical instruments. And he shared this with me. We could spend hours silently catching fish and enjoying the time spent together. Life is so unpredictable and it is worth appreciating it. We Ukrainians, like no one else, know its true value! Time does not heal and the wounds inside do not heal, I just get used to living with my heartache. I was very afraid of "breaking down" after such a tragedy. It is very difficult, very difficult to lose loved ones forever... All that remains is to remember and remember..." - said the wife of the deceased Tetyana. The defender was buried in the village of Komarivka in the Kyiv region. Yaroslav left behind a mother, wife and children. Yaroslav Sulima was posthumously awarded the badge "For the Defense of the Native State. Makariv".Memory Platform 'Memorial'
