Yaroslav V. Kapko (Pecheniukha)

Senior soldier Yaroslav Kapko (call sign Pechenyuk) died on October 14, 2022, during the defense of Donetsk region. Near the settlement of Kurdyumivka, the defender came under enemy mortar fire. He was 35 years old. Yaroslav was born in the village of Pustovary in the Poltava region. He completed 9 grades at Demydivka School. He entered the Poltava Vocational Technical School No. 21. He worked at the company "Kernel," holding the position of junior specialist in the security department of the "Poltava-South" cluster. In his free time, he loved playing football. He lived with his family in the town of Reshetylivka in Poltava region. During the full-scale Russian invasion, Yaroslav fought in the ranks of the 62nd Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. "Yaroslav loved his family very much, he was a role model for his daughters. He was a positive, sincere person. He always made balanced decisions. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, Yaroslav went to the military enlistment office himself, saying: 'I can't sit at home while my country is being destroyed,'" said the wife of the fallen, Olga. "In these 4 months, we went through a lot together. We ate from the same plate, shared everything, always slept next to each other; he was like a brother to me. Eternal rest. Heroes do not die," wrote comrade Andriy Mordovsky. The defender was buried in his native village. At home, Yaroslav's wife and two daughters were waiting for him.
