Yaroslav V. Panchyshyn

Senior Lieutenant Yaroslav Panchyshyn was killed on March 9, 2022, while performing a combat mission near the village of Ternі in the Donetsk region. The officer was 25 years old. Yaroslav was born in the city of Bar, Vinnytsia region. He graduated from the Khmilnytskyi National Academy of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine named after Bohdan Khmilnytskyi. He worked in his specialty - he was a border guard in the city of Shchastia, Luhansk region. He was interested in volleyball and football, loved to play the guitar. From the first days of the full-scale war, Yaroslav continued to perform his official duties to protect his native country. At that time, he was the deputy head of the border service inspector department of the 3rd Luhansk border detachment named after the Hero of Ukraine, Colonel Yevhen Pikus. "He was a wonderful son, a loving brother, a faithful friend and a wonderful person. He remained forever on guard of the borders and in our hearts!" - wrote the deceased's sister Karyna. "The loss of our Warrior - a young man full of life energy and strength - is unspeakable pain for parents, sister, friends, all of us. In the memories of those who personally knew Yaroslav, he will remain a true hero, strong and courageous, young, smiling, a handsome young man, a loving son and brother, a reliable friend and comrade. May the good memory of the defender be stronger than death! We bow our heads before the bright memory of our countryman. The sincerest words of support to the relatives, family, comrades-in-arms of the fallen Hero of Ukraine!" - noted in the Bar City Council. The officer was buried in the Alley of Glory in his hometown. His parents and sister were waiting for Yaroslav at home.
