- On June 28, 2022, in the Kharkiv region, the commander of the 3rd company of the 130th battalion of the territorial defense of Kyiv, Yaroslav Shamansky (call sign Sherman), was killed. Yaroslav's body was able to be retrieved from the positions only the next day. Yaroslav was a Kyiv resident. From childhood, he was fond of history, military affairs of different times and peoples, including the Vikings. He was engaged in martial arts and hardball. He wanted to become a military man, but received a legal education. He quickly realized that this was not for him, so before the war, he worked in a store selling pneumatic weapons. In the summer, he taught at a children's Cossack camp, teaching boys to shoot from different types of weapons and sail under sail. He loved children very much. In March 2014, he voluntarily went to the military commissariat. In 2015, he became the commander of the motorized infantry platoon of the 11th motorized infantry battalion "Kyiv Rus", fought in Donbas. He constantly said that he could not imagine himself without the army. "Company commander. Left life, saving the lives of the wounded on the battlefield in the Kharkiv region! He refused treatment, being concussed. Sherman returned again to take out the wounded, although he was tired and could have rested! He went to the end for the sake of others, for the sake of Ukraine," his comrades recall. "After everything I've been through, I don't imagine myself without the army. On the front line, I, so to speak, revealed my purpose - to fight and protect my people. I have no fear of killing the enemy. Now I well understand that by vocation I am a warrior, to this I went all my life," Yaroslav Shamansky said in an interview in 2017. Sherman left behind a wife and two children.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
