- Born on August 30, 1982, in the city of Torez (since 2016 - Chistyakove) in the Donetsk region. Graduated from a general education school. Lived in the city of Lozova in the Kharkiv region. Worked at the Lozova signaling and communication distance of the Southern Railway, was a trade union organizer of the workshop. In May 2015, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Served as a platoon commander of the 53rd Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit V0927, in the cities of Severodonetsk/Lysychansk in the Luhansk region). Since 2015, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On July 4, 2016, Lieutenant Zhitnikov was seriously wounded in the chest during a mortar shelling of the unit's positions. Together with two other wounded soldiers, he was taken to the hospital in the city of Toretsk in the Donetsk region, where he underwent surgery. However, the doctors' efforts were in vain, and on the same day, the serviceman died. On July 6, 2016, he was buried in the Central Cemetery in the city of Lozova, Kharkiv region.Book of Remembrance for Ukraine - Ukrainian memorial
