Yehor O. Karptsov (Karbon)

21-year-old soldier Yegor Karpstov (call sign Carbon) was killed in action on March 13, 2022, near the town of Avdiivka in Donetsk region. Yegor, along with his comrades, stopped an enemy tank column near the village of Novoselivka Druha at the cost of their own lives, drawing enemy fire onto themselves while the evacuation of civilians continued. Yegor was born in the city of Svatove, Luhansk region. He graduated from the Kharkiv Academy of Railway Transport. He worked at the Svatove depot with his father and grandfather. In his free time, he was involved in sports and loved fishing. Before the war, the young man met his love. He had dreams and plans for the future, but it was not meant to be. During the full-scale war, Yegor defended Ukraine from the occupiers as part of the 25th Separate Airborne Sich Battalion. The soldier, along with his comrades, defended his native Donbas. "He was the son anyone could wish for. He loved children and animals very much. This is an irreplaceable loss and sorrow for our family. I can't breathe without him...," said his mother, Oksana. The young defender was buried in the village of Vilne in Dnipropetrovsk region. Yegor is survived by his parents, brother, grandmothers, grandfather, and beloved girlfriend. Posthumously, soldier Yegor Karpstov was awarded the Order of "Courage" III degree.
