Yehor R. Veklenko (Kaban)

26-year-old soldier Yehor Veklenko (call sign Kaban) was killed on March 1, 2023 near the village of Bilohorivka in the Donetsk region. During an enemy artillery barrage, a shell fragment hit the trench where the soldier was located. Yehor was born and lived in Kyiv. He studied at school No. 197. He graduated from the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Engineering of the National University "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute named after Igor Sikorsky". He worked in the IT field. He loved animals very much. His family had 5 dogs and 8 cats. He read books and watched anime. During the full-scale invasion, Yehor joined the ranks of the National Guard of Ukraine. He was a grenadier in the 1st Presidential Brigade of Special Purpose named after Hetman Petro Doroshenko. "He was a participant in the war almost from the beginning of the full-scale invasion. He went to the military enlistment office for 3 days, after which the commander of the military unit called and offered a gathering point. From that moment on, Yehor fought in Moshchun, Sievierodonetsk and Bakhmut. He always found himself on the front lines. He said that after Sievierodonetsk he could celebrate his second birthday," said the deceased's sister Kristina. The warrior was buried at the Vyshnevyi cemetery in the Kyiv region. Yehor is survived by his parents, brother and sister.
