- Soldier Yehor Shumayev (call sign Shum) was killed on December 14, 2022 in the hospital. Four days earlier, he sustained severe injuries during the battles for the city of Bakhmut and was in a coma. On December 8, the defender turned 20 years old. Yehor was born and raised in the city of Kramatorsk, Donetsk region. In 2020, he enrolled at the V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Faculty of Geology, Geography, Recreation and Tourism. Alongside his studies, he worked at the branch of "Nova Poshta". He was actively involved in sports, particularly football. He loved to travel and actively participated in various events. He loved the sea and the mountains. When the full-scale war began, Yehor was a second-year student, but he decided that he had to defend Ukraine. He joined the Kharkiv Territorial Defense Forces and became a rifleman in the 120th separate battalion of the Territorial Defense Forces of the 113th Territorial Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. During his service, he was awarded the honorary distinction "For Courage and Bravery" and the medal "For Service to the State". "My dear son, you will forever be in my heart... You are compassionate, cheerful, bright, open, sociable, kind, strong, principled. A good organizer, a caring son! You will forever be 20... Eternal honor! He loved Ukraine and dreamed of Victory and the liberation of our state from the Russian invaders. Yehor became an example of courage, a symbol of the struggle for freedom and dignity," said the mother of the fallen, Lyudmyla. The young warrior was buried on the Alley of Glory in his native Kramatorsk. Yehor is survived by his parents and younger brother.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
