- Senior Sergeant Yevhen Savchenko was killed on April 14, 2022, during the liberation of settlements from Russian occupants in the Izyum district of the Kharkiv region. Near the village of Andriyivka, the warrior received fatal wounds. He was 28 years old. Yevhen was born in the village of Loboikivka, Dnipropetrovsk region. He graduated from the Kamiansky Energy Technical School, obtaining the qualification of an electrical technician. In 2013, he was drafted for military service. The following year, he transferred to a contract with the National Guard of Ukraine. One of his duties was to train military affairs for newcomers. He participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation and received the medal "Veteran of War" for this. In 2018, he was discharged from the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the rank of senior sergeant. In 2019, he joined the territorial administration of the judicial protection service in the Dnipropetrovsk region. He was a platoon commander. Yevhen always dreamed of having a son. On July 1, 2021, his son Renat was born. The man devoted all his free time to him. On January 31, 2022, he resigned at his own request, as even before the war he wanted to serve in the ranks of the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade "Kholodnyi Yar". And on February 24, his dream came true. He took part in battles in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions. "Yevhen managed to tell about the difficult field conditions in which they had to fight. Despite the risks, they went into battle and held on with the last of their strength. He was not afraid of death, he was afraid to live under the tricolor, he did not want such a life for his loved ones. He went to war with the phrase: 'Who, if not me? I'm going for the sake of my family.'" One of the last phrases Yevhen said to his relatives was: "Cold, hunger and fear will show what a person is really like." Despite the difficult conditions, he remained kind-hearted, helped his comrades-in-arms, and believed that they would be able to withstand. On April 13, Yevhen called his family for the last time. After that, the connection was lost. The defender was officially considered missing. Half a year later, after the liberation of the Kharkiv region, Yevhen's body was found in the Izyum district. On October 31, 2022, the warrior was buried in the cemetery in his native village of Loboikivka. "For all of us, he will forever remain a hero who has been defending the eastern borders of Ukraine since 2014 and did not remain aloof during the full-scale invasion. For the sake of our happy future, he courageously defended the territorial integrity of Ukraine and died while performing a combat mission. He was a true friend and comrade, always helping those in need. He dedicated his entire life to military affairs and was always ready to defend his state. His actions deserve the highest state award 'Hero of Ukraine,'" adds Roman. Yevhen is survived by his mother, stepfather, sister, wife, and son.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
