- Senior soldier Yevhen Hordiichuk (call sign Joconda) died on October 20, 2023 near the village of Klishchiyivka in the Donetsk region. During the performance of a special task, he received fatal injuries as a result of enemy artillery shelling. In two months, on December 26, the warrior would have turned 25 years old. Yevhen was from the village of Lukachany in the Chernivtsi region. In 2018, he graduated from the Kelmentsi Vocational Lyceum and obtained the profession of a car mechanic. In 2019-2020, he served in the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. In 2021-2022, he studied at the COSINUS College in the Polish city of Lodz and worked at the S.I.C. company. He loved an active lifestyle, and every day of his life was filled with movement, as evidenced by the videos he loved to shoot and edit. In the first days of the full-scale war, the man returned from Poland to his homeland and the very next day, on February 28, 2022, joined the Territorial Defense Forces of the Makariv district of the Kyiv region. He helped evacuate Ukrainians from the occupation. And on April 25, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 5th separate assault brigade, holding the position of a fire support company gunner. "He was one of a kind. In the first days of the full-scale invasion, he left his studies and work and returned from abroad. Millions of people and the best of us have laid down their heads for this independence. My husband sacrificed the most precious thing - his life!" - said Yana Hordiichuk. The defender was buried at the Forest Cemetery in Kyiv. Yevhen is survived by his parents and wife.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
