- Senior combat medic Yevhen Shumilov (call sign Met) died on April 30, 2024 near the village of Novovodiane in Luhansk region. During the enemy's assault, he shielded a wounded comrade with his own body. The defender was 32 years old. Yevhen was born in Kyiv. From an early age, he was engaged in dancing, then joined an acting group. This determined his further life. "Perhaps he inherited the talent from his grandfather. My father sang very well, and his stories were one-man shows," says the warrior's mother Kateryna. After finishing school, Yevhen enrolled in the budget program at the Kyiv National University of Theater, Cinema and Television named after I. Karpenko-Karyi. After receiving his diploma, Yevhen began his dream acting career. For eight years, he performed in private alternative theaters, starred in TV series and participated in TV projects. In his free time, he loved to travel, hike in the mountains, ski, watch movies and sing. He adored the sea. In his youth, he loved rollerblading, skating, and cycling. In the first months of the full-scale war, Yevhen got a job at "Nova Poshta". Performances and concerts were out of the question. "It was morally difficult for him to change the stage for the terminal area. But he tried to do everything responsibly, as best he could. He had such an approach to everything. These few months, he was already thinking about the war, but he wanted to be useful, to work without breaks and rest," says his mother. Yevhen tried to get to the front three times. Only in August 2022 was he mobilized. At first, he was a signaler, then changed his profession to a combat medic. Soon he was promoted to sergeant and the position of senior combat medic of the 3rd separate assault brigade. "He saved so many lives! I spoke to the medic who served with him side by side. She told me that Zhenya did something incredible. He himself went to the front line, although it was not his official duty, he evacuated hundreds of hopeless cases. He saved hundreds of limbs - in situations where others would have amputated, he found a solution. He saved hundreds of lives! God acted through his hands," the defender's mother says. Yevhen was awarded the "Cross of the Brave" and "Golden Cross" badges. The defender was buried on the Alley of Heroes in Vyshne, Kyiv region. Yevhen is survived by his mother, stepfather and relatives.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
