Yevhen M. Korzhov (Korzh)

Soldier Yevhen Korzhov (call sign Korzh) was killed on November 9, 2022 near the village of Novosilske in the Luhansk region. During the performance of a combat mission, he received a fatal explosive injury. The defender was 43 years old. Yevhen was a native of the village of Tsaredarivka, Kharkiv region. He graduated from H. Skovoroda Kharkiv National Pedagogical University. He was fond of football, archeology, and collecting antiquities. He was interested in history. Before the invasion, he worked as a storekeeper at the private company "Obolon". With the start of the full-scale war, the man took up arms and went to the front. He served in the 92nd separate mechanized brigade named after the Koshovy Otaman Ivan Sirko. For his service, he was awarded the badge "For Excellence in Military Service" of the III degree and the Order of Courage of the III degree (posthumously). "Zhenya was a very kind and cheerful person. Responsible, interesting, brave, courageous. A person with great strength and endurance. We miss him so much. He was the godfather of my daughter. He always treated her like his own child, supported and guided her. Although he did not serve compulsory military service, when the war started, he immediately went to defend. He never complained about anything. He always said that everything would be fine and we would definitely win," said the friend and godmother of the fallen Viktoria Bezzubenko. Yevhen was buried in his native village. He is survived by his mother, son, brothers, relatives, and friends.
