- Born on December 2, 1972, in the city of Weimar (Thuringia, Germany) into a military family. After some time, the family moved to the city of Zolotonosha in the Cherkasy region. Graduated from school. From 1990, served in the Armed Forces of the USSR/Ukraine. In 1994, graduated from the Kharkiv Guards Higher Tank Command School named after the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. From 1994, served in the 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A0224, city of Mykolaiv). In 1999, graduated from the National Defense Academy of Ukraine (city of Kyiv). In 2010-2011, participated in the UN peacekeeping mission in Kosovo. Since the spring of 2014, participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On October 4, 2014, Major Piven was killed by a grenade explosion while repelling an attack by Russian-terrorist groups on Donetsk International Airport. On October 8, 2014, he was buried in the cemetery of the city of Mykolaiv (in the area of Velyka Korenyha).Book of Remembrance for Ukraine - Ukrainian memorial
