- Soldier Yevhen Slypchenko (call sign Slypa) was killed in action on April 17, 2022, while performing a combat mission near the village of Vyshneve in the Zaporizhzhia region. The fighter went on a reconnaissance mission into enemy territory and sustained fatal injuries during an artillery shelling. He was 36 years old. Yevhen was born in the city of Polohy, Zaporizhzhia region. He graduated from the Melitopol Professional Railway Transport College. He worked as an assistant to a locomotive engineer. On the first day of the full-scale Russian invasion, he was on a business trip near Volnovakha in Donetsk region. He immediately understood what was happening, so after returning home, he joined the local territorial defense. After the occupation of his hometown, Polohy, he helped evacuate civilians. Later, he moved to Zaporizhzhia, where he became a fighter in the 116th Separate Battalion of the Territorial Defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He served in reconnaissance. In his final battle, Yevhen shielded his commander, who was severely injured but survived. However, he was unable to carry his comrade's body from the battlefield."He was the best brother. We could rely on each other in any situation. His words: 'They came to our land. We will fight them until the last sweat and breath,'" said his sister, Iryna.
