- Captain Yevhen Chertkov (call sign Hell) was killed on February 15, 2024, in a battle with Russian invaders in the area of the village of Lyptsi in the Kharkiv region. The officer was now forever 34 years old. Yevhen was born in the city of Alchevsk, Luhansk region. When he was 3 years old, he moved with his parents to the city of Zaporizhia, where he lived until 2014. He graduated from the Zaporizhia National Technical University with a degree in "Radio-electronic devices and means". Then he settled in Kyiv. For a long time, he worked as a bartender in the restaurant business. For the last 2.5 years, he worked at the "24Option" company. He was engaged in bodybuilding, loved to learn new things and could not sit idle. He adored traveling with his wife, played the guitar, loved to walk a lot and ride a bicycle. He was interested in foreign languages. Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, Yevhen voluntarily joined the ranks of the 215th separate battalion of the 125th separate brigade of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At the time of his death, he held the position of head of the command post of the headquarters and was the deputy chief of staff. In May 2024, the warrior was awarded the medal "Defender of the Fatherland". "On February 24, 2022, Yevhen told me that he would not be able to just go to work and stay aside. Without waiting for a summons, at the beginning of the war, he went as a volunteer to the 215th battalion of the Lviv Territorial Defense. He said that he had a beloved, loving parents, a brother, and Ukraine, where he wanted us all to live freely, be happy and independent... Such as he is once in a lifetime. Incredible, thirsty for life and adventure, with a spark in his eyes and tenderness in his heart - this is my Yevhen. We lived in different cities of Ukraine, traveled and lived abroad, and finally in 2019 returned to Kyiv to build our future at home. He had a fiery temper, and that was his hallmark. Sometimes he seemed introverted to someone, but only I knew how extraordinary he really was. We dreamed of our own apartment in Kyiv, a child - his little copy, we wanted to get a black Shiba Inu dog in retirement, which we would call Joey (like a character from our favorite series "Friends). My beloved - my home, my spark, my driving force, my Universe and my soul. I love you more than anything in the world! We will definitely meet and be together, I know for sure," shared the fallen officer's wife, Kristina Veselova. The hero was buried at the Berkovetsky cemetery in Kyiv. Yevhen is survived by his parents, younger brother and beloved wife.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
