- Senior soldier Yevhen Hutsalo (call sign Physicist) was killed on April 14, 2024, as a result of a strike by an enemy UAV near the village of Serebrіanka in the Donetsk region. The defender is now forever 41 years old. Yevhen was born and lived in Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region. He obtained the profession of a physical education teacher at the Volodymyr Vynnychenko Central State University. He worked as a teacher in a school and a mining and technology lyceum. Then he mastered the profession of a miner and worked in the mines in Kryvyi Rih. In his free time, he loved to play basketball and football. He was interested in biathlon. Having combat experience in the ATO, the man took up arms again during the full-scale war. He defended the country in the ranks of the National Guard of Ukraine. He was the operator's gunner on an APC in the 13th Special Purpose Brigade "Khartia". "Yevhen was always a cheerful person, he never complained, he supported everyone. When asked 'How are you?', he always replied: 'Better than everyone!', and he taught his daughter to answer that way. He had big plans for life. He always wanted to live in Ukraine, he said: 'This is my home! And I love it!'. He really loved his country, loved his city. He was faithful to his convictions to the end. For his family, he was a man with a capital letter. His dedication and heroism will forever remain in the hearts of his loving family, friends, and people who knew Yevhen," wrote his wife Yulia. Yevhen was buried in the Alley of Glory of the central cemetery in his hometown. He is survived by his mother, brother, wife and daughter.
