Yevhen V. Khomenko (Khameleon)

The 25-year-old "Azovian" Yevhen Khomenko (call sign Chameleon) was killed in action on March 29, 2022, defending the city of Mariupol in Donetsk from occupiers. He received fatal injuries during an artillery barrage. Yevhen Khomenko was born and lived in the city of Zaporizhzhia. He stu to be an electrician at the National University "Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic". In civilian life, he worked as a bartender. He loved animals very much. He was interested in tattoos and military affairs. Later, he decided to join the military service and in 2018 joined the ranks of the separate special purpose regiment of the National Guard of Ukraine "Azov". He carried out combat missions in the area of the ATO/OOS. He was awarded the medal "For participation in the anti-terrorist operation". He dreamed of building a military career and constantly improved in this field. When the full-scale war began, Yevhen, together with his comrades, defended the city of Mariupol and the "Azovstal" plant. At that time, he was a sniper instructor. "Good, always stood up for justice," said the mother of the deceased Yulia Viktorivna. The defender left behind his mother, younger brothers, and grandmother. Posthumously, Senior Sergeant Yevhen Khomenko was awarded the Order "For Courage" III degree.
