Yevhen V. Koniev (Marshal)

52-year-old soldier Yevhen Konev (call sign Marshal) was killed on April 1, 2022, while carrying out a combat mission in Donetsk region. Near the village of Rozdolne, the defender came under enemy mortar fire. This was the first day of Yevhen's unit at the new positions. Yevhen was born and lived in Zaporizhia. He graduated from school and a technical college there. He completed his mandatory military service. In civilian life, he was a driver: he drove a truck, a bus, and a car. He was interested in technology and cars. He played the guitar and piano. With the onset of full-scale war in March 2022, he took up the defense of his native country. He served in the 2nd Infantry Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a driver. "My dad was a modest man, he didn't draw much attention to himself. I lack the words to describe what a huge loss this is for all of us. It's a void that cannot be filled, a wound that will never heal. We are proud of our hero. We honor him, we remember him. We will never forgive. Eternal memory to you, Dad. We love you," said Dmytro Konev. The defender was buried at St. Nicholas Cemetery in his hometown of Zaporizhia. Yevhen is survived by his mother, brother, wife, and son. Posthumously, soldier Yevhen Konev was awarded the Order of Courage III class.
