Yevhen V. Korosteliov

Born on October 9, 1978, in the city of Sumy. Graduated from the general education school in Sumy, then from the Military Institute of Artillery at Sumy State University. Served in the military in positions ranging from commander of the self-propelled artillery battery control platoon to chief of artillery-deputy commander of the 25th Separate Airborne Brigade of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A1126, the urban-type settlement of Hvardiyske, Novomoskovsk district, Dnipropetrovsk region). Since the spring of 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation and the Joint Forces Operation in eastern Ukraine. Since October 23, 2019, he has been the commander of the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Transcarpathian Brigade of the Operational Command "West" of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A1556, the city of Mukachevo, Transcarpathian region). On November 12, 2019, Colonel Korostelov sustained multiple injuries as a result of an explosion from an unknown explosive device while carrying out a combat mission near the urban-type settlement of Novotroitske in the Volnovakha district of Donetsk region. On November 13, 2019, the wounded officer was transported to the Military Medical Clinical Center of the Northern Region (military unit A3306, the city of Kharkiv), where several surgeries were performed. On November 19, 2019, around 04:00, Colonel Korostelov died from his injuries at the Military Medical Clinical Center of the Northern Region (military unit A3306, the city of Kharkiv) without regaining consciousness. On November 20, 2019, he was buried in the Alley of Honorary Citizens at the Central Cemetery of the city of Sumy.
