- Sergeant Major Yevhen Mazhara (call sign Jack) was killed on August 2, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Ivanivske in the Donetsk region. He would have turned 33 years old on August 26. Yevhen was born and lived in Kyiv. He studied at school No. 156. After the 9th grade, he enrolled at the Kyiv Professional Energy Lyceum, where he obtained the qualifications of a manual welding electrician and a body repairer. He worked at various enterprises. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He was passionate about football, not only watching matches but also going to the stadium. He was an ultra-fan of FC Dynamo (Kyiv). On the first day of the full-scale Russian invasion, he joined the local Territorial Defense Forces to defend his native city. He participated in the defense of the Kyiv region, particularly in the battles for Irpin, Bucha, and Hostomel. Later, he received a summons from the military commissariat and joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He underwent training in the United Kingdom. Then he served in the 80th separate air assault brigade. "My husband dreamed of victory, dreamed of a bright future for our daughter in a free, independent Ukraine, and gave his life for it. He wanted our daughter Lera to grow up in a peaceful state, without wars. He was the best man in the world and the best father in the world. My daughter and I love our father and are very proud of our hero. Now Yevhen is bringing our victory closer in the heavenly forces," said Maria Mazhara. Yevhen was buried at the Berkovetsky Cemetery in the capital. His parents, wife, daughter, loving family, and friends did not get to see their protector.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
