Yevhen V. Melnikov

Junior Sergeant Yevhen Melnykov was killed in action on April 1, 2022, in Avdiivka, Donetsk region. He was caught in a massive mortar attack and sustained blast injuries incompatible with life. Yevhen was 39 years old. He was born in Kamianske, Dnipropetrovsk region. He graduated from Kamianske Professional and Technical School No. 22, where he obtained the qualification of a metallurgical production crane operator. In peacetime, he worked as a crane operator at the Dniprovskyi Metallurgical Plant. With the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, he joined the defense of Ukraine, becoming part of the 25th Separate Airborne Brigade. He was a rifleman. "He was a very kind person, passionate about books, and loved fishing," said his civil wife Kateryna. Yevhen Melnykov was buried at the Alley of Glory in his hometown. The warrior left behind a daughter, parents, and his civil wife. The former Altai Street in Kamianske now bears the name of the defender.
