Yevhen V. Puhach

Senior soldier Yevhen Puhach was killed on September 22, 2022, during assault operations near the village of Mykolaivka Druha in the Donetsk region. The defender was 27 years old. Yevhen Puhach was born in the city of Ichnia in the Chernihiv region. In 2012, he graduated from the local S. Vasylenko Gymnasium and then stu at the Ichnia Professional Agricultural Lyceum, where he obtained a qualification as a crane operator. Later, he served his conscription in military units in the settlement of Desna in the Chernihiv region and in the village of Mykhailivka in Mykolaiv region. He held the position of operator-electrician for the automated directorate of anti-tank guided missiles and artillery with direct fire at a general military training ground. In civilian life, he worked as a salesperson in a store and later went to Poland for work. He loved football, fishing, traveling, and read a lot. "No matter how tired he was, he could still go to the stadium in the evening... And he adored reading since school. He often asked me to bring him books about the war from Chernihiv. Generally, he read a variety of literature," said his mother, Tetiana Puhach. "He was calm and reasonable. Not very talkative, at least at home. Friends describe him as a good companion," added his father, Volodymyr. In April 2021, Yevhen signed a contract for military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, taking the position of gunner of the 2nd motorized infantry squad of the 2nd motorized infantry platoon of the 1st motorized infantry company of the 30th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Kostiantyn Ostrozhskiy. During the full-scale invasion, he defended Ukraine in the Luhansk and Donetsk directions as a machine gunner-gunner. Yevhen was buried in his hometown. He is survived by his parents, grandmothers, and grandfathers.
