Yevhen V. Romanenko (Roma)

Junior Sergeant Yevhen Romanenko (call sign Roma) was killed on March 2, 2023 in the Mechnikov Hospital in Dnipro. On February 22, while carrying out a combat mission in the area of the village of Klishchiyivka in the Donetsk region, the defender received fatal shrapnel wounds. He was forever 45 years old. Yevhen was born and lived in Kyiv. He studied at school No. 222. In 1996, he obtained the profession of an auto mechanic at the Kyiv Vocational and Technical School No. 2. He was interested in weapons and knives, especially non-standard ones. He also loved fishing. Since 2015, he has been working in his profession at the company LLC "Avtobudkompleks K". During the full-scale war, the man went to the front to protect his native lands from the Russian invaders. He dreamed more than anything to live in a peaceful and prosperous country. Yevhen served in the 3rd separate assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of senior sapper in the engineering and sapper platoon. He was awarded the honorary badge "Steel Cross". "My husband and the father of my children will remain in our memory as a brave, sensitive, and decent person. For the sake of his children, he was ready to do anything to make them happy. He adored them. Yevhen was a person who sacrificed his life to protect his family and the Motherland," said the widow of the fallen. Yevhen was buried at the Berkovetsky cemetery in Kyiv. His wife Galyna, daughter Karyna, and son Oleksandr did not wait for their defender to return from the war.
