Yevhenii A. Boiko (Dzhonik)

Senior soldier Yevhen Boiko (call sign Jonik) was killed on January 20, 2023, while carrying out his first combat mission in the Soledar area of Donetsk region. He sustained fatal injuries during enemy mortar shelling. The warrior was forever 40 years old. Yevhen was born and lived in Myrhorod, Poltava region. He studied at the local school No. 2. Then he graduated from the Myrhorod Vocational School No. 44 and obtained the profession of a driver-electrician. He served his conscription military service and later worked as a construction worker. Before the invasion, he worked at the "AV metal group" metal base in his hometown. In his free time, he went fishing. During the full-scale invasion, the man voluntarily joined the army. He served in the Myrhorod battalion of the territorial defense of the 116th separate brigade of the TRO of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a rifleman in the rifle company. As part of his unit, he went to defend Soledar at the beginning of 2023, from where he did not return. "Zhenya was the best son, a strong older brother, a loving father and just a good person. He never refused to help his relatives and anyone else. A bright, honest, kind, decent person. A brave and courageous warrior. The words: "And who, if not us? Who, if not us?" were his last before the battle," said his mother Tetiana. The defender was buried in the Alley of Heroes of the cemetery in his hometown. Yevhen is survived by his parents, sister and daughter.
