Yevhenii I. Honcharenko (BAD)

Defender of Mariupol Yevhen Honcharenko (call sign BAD) was killed on April 15, 2022, during a breakout from the Azovstal plant. The warrior remained forever 27 years old. Yevhen was born in Kharkiv. He studied at the O.M. Beketov Kharkiv National University of Urban Economy. He was interested in history and military affairs. In 2014, he took up the defense of his Homeland and participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation/Joint Forces Operation. At that time, the young man was 19 years old. Initially, he served in the special police unit "Eastern Corps" and took part in the liberation of Shyrokyne near Mariupol. Later, he was transferred to the Kharkiv battalion. In 2019, he joined the ranks of the separate special forces unit of the National Guard of Ukraine "Azov". Yevhen served in the mortar platoon. From February 24, 2022, together with his comrades-in-arms, he defended the city of Mariupol. "Amiable, honest, brave, a loving son, husband and father. A true patriot of his country," said the mother of the fallen Natalia. On January 31, 2023, Yevhen was buried in the Alley of Glory of cemetery No. 18 in his native Kharkiv. The hero left behind his parents, wife and daughter. Posthumously, Senior Soldier Yevhen Honcharenko was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
