Biography
Yevhenii Ivanovych Podstavka was born on March 5, 1984, in the village of Poloshky in the Hlukhiv region, in the family of Ivan Pylypovych and Vira Fedorivna. His sisters, Oksana and Olena, worked as teachers at the Poloshkivskyi NVK of the Hlukhiv City Council. Yevhenii graduated from 9 grades of a secondary school of I-III degrees in his native village. He then stuwas killed at the Hlukhiv Agrotechnical College. He served his military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and then in the Sumy Border Guard Unit of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. Initially, he served in the city of Konotop, and after getting married, he was transferred to the border detachment "Sopych". Together with his family, he lived in the city of Hlukhiv in the Sumy region. He had a military profession as a dog handler. Since the beginning of the hostilities in Eastern Ukraine, he repeatedly participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) / Joint Forces Operation (JFO). In 2021, he signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine and served as part of the 16th separate motorized infantry battalion "Poltava" of the 58th separate motorized infantry brigade named after Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky. With the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, together with his comrades-in-arms, he bravely and courageously held back the invaders on his native land. He was killed on March 9, 2022, while performing a combat mission in the village of Lukashivka in the Chernihiv region. At the cost of his own life, he covered the retreat of his comrades. On April 10, 2022, Master Sergeant Yevhenii Podstavka was buried in the city of Hlukhiv.Burial place
