Yevhenii O. Chubko (Hnom)

Senior Lieutenant Yevhen Chubko (call sign Gnome) was killed on July 1, 2023 in the area of the village of Pryyutne, Zaporizhia region. In a battle with Russian occupiers, he received fatal gunshot wounds. The officer was 36 years old. Yevhen was born and lived in Dnipro. He received secondary education at school No. 69. In 2009, he obtained a higher education at the National Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine, majoring in "Metal Forming", and in 2010 he mastered the specialty of "Economic Cybernetics". Since 2017, he has been working at the Interpipe plant. He started as a press operator of wheels and tires in the hot rolling section, and then took an engineering position in the technology bureau. Colleagues remember him as a responsible, honest and hardworking employee, on whom they had great hopes for further professional growth. Yevhen joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine in January 2023. He served in the 23rd Separate Mechanized Brigade. As he was a reserve officer, he held the position of platoon commander. Together with his comrades-in-arms, he fought in the Donetsk and Zaporizhia regions. "This is a great loss. The mainstay of the family, the defender, without whom life loses its meaning... He was loving, attentive, reliable," said the officer's wife Marina. Yevhen was buried at the Klochkovsky Cemetery in Dnipro. At home, his parents and wife were waiting for him. The serviceman was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
