- Senior soldier Yevhen Kalapats (call sign Ares) was killed on December 8, 2022 in the capital's hospital. On November 17, while carrying out a combat mission, he sustained serious injuries in the Bakhmut direction. The defender was 23 years old. Yevhen was born in the village of Skrygalivka, Kyiv region. He graduated from the Kyiv Transport Technological College with a degree in "Mine Surveying". He worked in various fields of activity. He loved animals, especially dogs. He adored motorcycles. He loved to cook, was passionate about psychology. He preferred long walks, loved watching good movies. During the full-scale war, the man fought for his native country in the ranks of the National Guard of Ukraine. He served in the 25th Brigade of Public Order Protection named after Prince Askold. He was a machine gunner. He took part in the liberation of the Kyiv region, and later defended Donetsk region - the cities of Lyman and Bakhmut. "We had many different moments with my brother: both good and not so good, but we were always together! Support, a brother I could always count on and always wanted to protect from trouble. I miss him, I'm sad. He is a Hero! I am proud of his courage and will always remember his deed. Glory to the Hero!" - said his brother Denys. "The war took away my best friend! A friend who was always by my side during the toughest and scariest trials in life!" - said his friend Maksym. "My Zhen'shen', you are forever in my heart! I will love you always! You are my Hero! You are always by my side, as you promised! You are closer than I think! My guardian angel," wrote the warrior's fiancée Yulia. The National Guard soldier was buried in his native village. Yevhen left behind his parents, brothers, sisters, fiancée, friends and comrades-in-arms. Yevhen Kalapats was posthumously awarded the medal "For Valiant Service" and the Order of Courage of the III degree.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
