Yevhenii P. Shpakovych (Yan)

Sergeant Yevhen Shpakovich (call sign Yan) was killed on December 18, 2022 in a battle with the occupiers near the village of Klishchiyivka in the Donetsk region. The defender was 50 years old. Yevhen was born in the village of Popilnya, Zhytomyr region. He graduated from the local secondary school there. Then he stuwas killed at the Kyiv Construction College. He served his compulsory military service. He got married and lived with his family in Kyiv. He worked for a company that specializes in lighting for trains. He was passionate about football. In 2014, he participated in the ATO in Donbas. From the first day of the full-scale Russian invasion, the man first joined the territorial defense, and later - the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 23rd separate special purpose battalion. He was a squad commander. "Zhenya was a kind, sensitive, positive, cheerful person. A smile never left his face. In 2014, he was drafted into the 30th separate mechanized brigade. He was in hot spots. After returning, he received the status of a participant in hostilities. During Russia's invasion, he unhesitatingly went to the TRO, and later joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Zhenya really wanted to live, but in a peaceful country, and the damned war ruined everything. He was the best husband, dad, friend. He was our pillar and support. It's a very heavy loss that is impossible to accept. Zhenya is a hero to me. And heroes are always in our hearts," said the wife of the fallen Natalia. The defender was buried at the Forest Cemetery in Kyiv. At home, Yevhen was awaited by his wife and daughter.
