Yevhenii S. Horenko

Gorenko Yevhen Serhiyovych was born on October 26, 1991 in the Poltava region. After graduating from secondary school, he served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. With the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, he was mobilized and was at the forefront as part of the 81st Separate Airmobile Brigade. He held the position of rifleman - assistant grenadier of the 1st airborne assault platoon. He was killed on May 6, 2022 during a massive bombardment of the village of Malynivka near the city of Huliaipole in the Zaporizhia region. The farewell ceremony for Yevhen Horenko took place on May 10, 2022 near the Holy Dormition Cathedral in the city of Poltava. The fallen soldier was buried on May 11, 2022 at the Zaturynske cemetery in Poltava. For personal courage and selfless actions displayed in the defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, loyalty to the military oath, Yevhen Serhiyovych Horenko was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree (posthumously).
