- Soldier Yevhen Hyrych fought his last battle on October 1, 2023 in the city of Bakhmut, Donetsk region. He sustained fatal injuries during enemy artillery shelling. He would have turned 39 years old a week later. Yevhen was originally from Khabarovsk Krai (Russia), but lived in Ukraine. He obtained a higher education at the National Academy of Internal Affairs, where he specialized as an operative investigator. He served in the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Poltava region and in the special unit of the Poltava battalion. He was very fond of football. Since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war in 2014, he defended the country in the ATO zone. He was awarded the "War Veteran" badge. After the start of the full-scale invasion, he joined the 77th Separate Airmobile Brigade to defend Ukraine. He held the position of a paratrooper squad shooter. "Our son lived a short but bright life. He was a sensitive and cheerful person. He had many friends. He was always smiling and sensible. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he decided to defend Ukraine because he had combat experience, having participated in the ATO since 2014. He said: 'The invaders must not be on our land.' He went to the military enlistment office several times, and on August 30, 2022, he was mobilized. His comrades-in-arms speak warmly of him and still maintain contact with Yevhen's father. Our son, brother, father - this is our pride! A worthy defender of his Motherland. This is a very great loss for our family and his friends. Yevhen will always be in the hearts and memories not only of us, his relatives, but also of all who knew him," said the mother of the fallen Tetyana. Yevhen was buried at the Zatuinsky cemetery in Poltava. He is survived by his parents, sister and daughter.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
