Yevhenii V. Plaksii (Don)

25-year-old senior sailor Yevhenii Plaksii (call sign Don) was killed on April 23, 2023 near the village of Novokalynove in Donetsk region. During the performance of a combat mission, he received fatal injuries as a result of enemy artillery shelling. Yevhenii was born in the village of Vynohradne, Odesa region. He studied at the Berezivka Vocational School. He worked abroad. He was fond of football and loved to dance. With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, on March 3, 2022, the man voluntarily joined the ranks of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 35th separate Marine Brigade named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Ostrohradskyy. He held the position of radio operator in the reconnaissance company. "He was a faithful comrade and friend, a caring son and a loving husband. We dreamed of a bright future and children. However, the war made its own adjustments. I constantly heard from him the phrases: 'Everything will be fine, my love!' and 'Home only with victory, no other way.' Forever in my heart... My best, dear husband," said the wife of the fallen Alina. The marine was buried in his native village. Yevhenii is survived by his parents, wife, older brother and two sisters.
