- Soldier Yevhen Bendiak (call sign Horizon) was killed on January 1, 2024 while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Synkivka, Kharkiv region. The defender was 40 years old. Yevhen was born in the city of Kirovohrad (now Kropyvnytskyi). After school, he obtained a secondary specialized education at vocational school No. 4. He received the profession of car mechanic. For 15 years, he worked as a blacksmith at the Hydrosila enterprise. He loved fishing, nature, mountains, and the sea. During the full-scale war, he defended the country as part of the 115th separate mechanized brigade. He held the position of driver-electrician. "Zhenya wanted to change his job, as he had worked in one place for a long time. He dreamed of being a driver. And it so happened that his dream came true at the front. The man never told me about the war, did not speak about the danger he was in - he protected me. He dreamed of visiting the Netherlands, he liked this country. We with the sons fulfilled his dream, now we live here. He was very kind, knew how to make friends, valued friendship. He adored us with the sons. The best husband and dad. The pain of the loss is very heavy and boundless," the warrior's wife Kateryna said. The defender was buried on the Alley of Glory of the Far Eastern Cemetery in his hometown. Yevhen left behind a wife, two sons who were 16 and 11 years old at the time of his death, and relatives. Yevhen Bendiak was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree and the badge "Veteran of War". A memorial plaque in his honor was installed on the facade of the school that Yevhen graduated from.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
